Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the role of God of Wine?
We are a private import agency. We represent around fifty winegrowers from 25 different countries on the Quebec market. Our role is to unearth these rare gems and market their wines to our restaurant and individual clients across the province.

How does the private import order process work?
Thanks to our new website, it is now much easier to obtain privately imported wines. As we live in a province where there is a state monopoly, all wines sold in Quebec, with the exception of local wines, must go through the SAQ. Our products are located in a warehouse separate from the warehouses intended for the branches.

Step 1: shop and choose your wine on our website
Step 2: pay the agency invoice which represents our salary as a representative of the winemaker in Quebec
Step 3: choose the SAQ to which you would like your order to be sent in the drop-down menu in your shopping cart
Step 4: wait for the call/email from the SAQ to pick up the order at the branch (7 to 10 working days) and pay the balance directly on site

As simple as that! It's simply another way of shopping for wine that gives you access to a whole range of products that are not found in the selection of SAQ branches.

What does the amount I pay represent when ordering?
The amount payable on our site represents our agent commission which is always included in the final price you see on the website. It is our salary that allows us to introduce you to all the beautiful products in our portfolio.

As we work with winegrowers from all four corners of the globe, we sometimes have to organize the transport of the wines ourselves to certain countries not served by the SAQ; example Japan, Slovenia, Georgia etc.

This adds costs to the final bill, which is why on some wines you may see a higher agency bill portion than on other products.

It's normal, it's part of the "game" in order to have access to these rare pearls that come to us from remote corners.

Why do I have to pay a portion here and a portion at the SAQ?
As mentioned above, the portion of the invoice paid on the site goes to us, logically the rest goes to the SAQ which manages transport (in the majority of cases), customs clearance, storage and delivery. This portion must be paid when you collect your order from the branch. Details of the amounts are indicated on each product page on the website.

What happens if my wine is defective?
If your wine is defective or corked, you can return the bottle directly to the branch with your SAQ invoice in hand (invoice that they will give you upon payment).
